Flare oops

Flare-ups when grilling:

The social gathering while grilling outdoors is often accompanied by the fascinating formation of flames when fat drips onto the hot coals or the gas burner element. These sudden flare-ups, while they may look spectacular, pose certain dangers and require attention and safety measures.

Causes of Flare Ups

Flare-ups are usually caused by the interaction of fat and heat. Fatty grilled food, be it marinated meat or juicy steaks, contains oils and fats that come out during grilling. These drops get onto the hot surfaces of the grill, be it the grill grate over the coals or the gas burner element.

Once the fat reaches the glowing surfaces, it vaporizes almost instantly due to the intense heat. The resulting fumes look for an ignition source and ignite, resulting in impressive flames that rise from the grill and can reach the food being grilled.
